A repeatable consultation approach
A practical structure for moving from the woman’s story through clinical reasoning, shared understanding, planning and follow-up without turning the consultation into a checklist.
The consultation women have been waiting for.
A practical, immersive learning experience for GPs and medical practitioners who want clinical knowledge, better conversations and better follow-up to work together in the same consultation.
We’re not starting from the assumption that you don’t know medicine. We’re interested in what changes when that knowledge has to work in the consultation room — with a real woman, limited time, uncertainty, competing priorities and decisions that need to be made together.
There is already strong menopause education and established clinical guidance. AMI is focused on the implementation layer: how a practitioner brings evidence, clinical reasoning, the woman’s story, shared decisions and follow-up together in a consultation that actually works.
A practical structure for moving from the woman’s story through clinical reasoning, shared understanding, planning and follow-up without turning the consultation into a checklist.
Strengthen the way you notice patterns, context, priorities and uncertainty — including the things that can be missed when symptoms, test results and time pressure pull attention in different directions.
Physiology, evidence and treatment thinking are taught in the context of what they change in the consultation: what you ask, explain, investigate, decide and review.
Help the woman take a real part in decisions about her care, so she leaves feeling empowered and part of the plan, not just handed a script. Build clearer ways to explain options, uncertainty and trade-offs so the decision is genuinely made together.
Questions, explanations, decision frameworks and consultation behaviours designed to be useful in the next real clinic session — not just remembered long enough to pass a quiz.
The learning is designed to make experienced practitioners think before they are told what to think. You enter a believable clinical situation, decide what you would do, then explore Kelly’s clinical reasoning, the evidence and the woman’s perspective.
Where it adds value, you can return to the same moment, reconsider the approach and try again. The point is not to copy one doctor’s script. It is to sharpen the way you notice, reason, explain and respond.
AMI is designed to bring together the things that are often separated in professional education.
Current evidence and established clinical guidance provide the guardrails for practitioner-facing teaching.
Dr Kelly Needham’s consultation experience contributes the practical reasoning, explanation and implementation layer.
The course is built to respect what experienced doctors already know and focus on the extra layer that changes practice.
Women’s experiences increasingly shape how AMI teaches the consultation, without being confused with clinical evidence.
The practitioner should leave thinking: “I noticed something I wasn’t noticing before. That changed how I would handle the consultation. I can use this tomorrow.”
The Modern Menopause Consultation™ is AMI’s Level 1 foundation experience within AMI Professional Membership.
The wider direction is deliberately longitudinal: learn the consultation, use it, revisit it, stay current as evidence changes and continue developing over time rather than completing one course and walking away.
AMI is developing the first practitioner experience now, with final clinical and evidence review required before release. You can register your interest now to receive updates about the course and founding-practitioner enrolment as the release pathway is finalised.
We’ll share CPD, accreditation and course-hour details once they’re confirmed.
